In childhood, lead poisoning has been associated with smaller brainvolume in adulthood, according to a study released on May 29, 2008 inthe open access journal PLoS Medicine. Lead poisoning is toxic to the nervous system, and has been linked toproblems such as abnormal thinking and behavior.
